Nice article in the Gruniad about rickrolling -- and I especially enjoyed the interview with Astley himself at the end.

The LA Times did an interview with him. It's interesting because he does seem to have a very clear understanding that the choice of his song in particular is just kind of random and knows that to look back on it that it was kind of a cheesy song.

Funny you should mention that, as I just ran across the LAT interview about an hour ago. He seems to have his head screwed on straight.
And the song is totally cheesy, but I think it does work as pop -- it's a really good pop song.

Yeah, it's cheesy, but it's not a bad song. Being rickrolled would be different if they'd chosen something truly awful.
