I'm not sure exactly what's going on here, but I love it.

Having been to Japan, I think that you would leave your hotel room. Most of Japanese TV is fairly pedestrian. It's more interesting than American TV on average, but not a lot more interesting. Now, if you had satellite TV, it might be a different story, but every hotel room I've stayed in in Japan has about roughly 6 channels, generally all broadcast TV. And usually at least one of them is showing news and at least one either baseball or sumo, which is good, but isn't wild and wacky.
