Remember the Johnson Smith catalog of "Things You Never Knew Existed"? Joy buzzers, smoke bombs, crappy novelty items? It was the greatest thing in the world when I was ten years old.
I don't remember it this way, though: check out this astonishing set of scans from the 1929 edition of the catalog. (warning: intermittently monumentally racist "jokes" ahead.)
