I just came from my company's Cinco de Mayo party in the employee cafeteria. Besides the incongruity of seeing our Fortune 50 CEO clutching a margarita and wearing a purple velvet sombrero, I thought it was a little uncomfortable that the only Mexicans in evidence at the party were the people serving drinks.
You work for the wrong network. Telemundo's Cinco De Mayo party is much better, dude.

For whatever it's worth, my understanding is that Cinco de Mayo is not that big a deal in Mexico - it's really more of an excuse for the Americans to get totalmente borracho.

If you go to a Chinese restaurant on Cinco de Mayo, and a Mexican restaurant on Chinese New Year, you'll do better both days.

Oh indeed, bmarkey -- the Wikipedia article has lots of good background. I just went 'cause hey, free beer.

tizzie -- works the same with Irish bars on Cinco de Mayo and Mexican bars on St. Pat's. Better service all around.

March 17 is the one day of the year I refuse to darken the door of an Irish pub.
