This made sense in Montana and the west, which suffered from fire partly due to over-dense forests with dry wood just ready to go up. In Alaska, I don't know that it makes as much sense.
True, I like Alaskan spruce for building guitars, but I don't think that's what is going on here- and even so, there are other sources for different breeds of spruce. Bummer that those other breeds are tonally different, but them's the breaks.
