Feeling better now -- symptoms are gone but energy level is still a bit low and my head is congested. A far cry from how I was feeling 72 hours ago, though. Thanks for all the get-well messages. (Thanks also to B., of course, for putting up with my whining -- no, not just when I'm under the weather.)
Not too much exciting weekend-related activity to report. Mainly stayed in, drank tea with honey, and gradually started feeling better. We did make one excursion to take care of some Christmas shopping on St. Mark's Place, where I also encountered Japanese curry for the first time. (Verdict? Not bad -- tastes better than it looks) Got some nifty Japanese cups, too, with pictures of sushi on them. Then we hit Kim's, which is DANGEROUS for me...I walked out with an early Xmas present to myself...some of the A/V Geeks series of old educational films on DVD. I also picked up some LPs: Pete Seeger at the Village Gate, with Memphis Slim and Willie Dixon backing him up (!) and Dizzy Gillespie on the French Riviera, playing Latin-jazz arrangements by Lalo Schifrin (who also plays piano on the recording, and whose name is misspelled in not one, but two different ways on the disc label and album cover).
For comedy purposes, I got a Danny Doyle LP of with a cover of such monumental dorkiness that it has to be seen to be believed...Danny's got a mod hairdo and a white suit covered with green shamrocks (and a red fringe...he looks kind of like Gerry Spence o' the Heather.) He's also carrying a guitar that has for some reason been wrapped in aluminum foil and bears his initials "DD" at the bottom. I can't wait to hear this...especially his cover of "Me and You and a Dog Named Boo."
Speaking of Christmas presents, we've got one's for you and B. here at the pied a terre. Gimme a call at home.
