Astoria is a wonderfully colorful neighborhood, especially at Christmastime. I need not search farther than yesterday's NYT for proof. The Laibo house (make sure you click on the pic in the article to see it in all its blazing glory) is a couple blocks away from mine. I pass it twice a day; my route home from the subway varies, but if I'm walking at night in December, it always goes past the Laibo house. (Link via simanoff.net.)
Howdy neighbor! Very cool to find another Astoria blogger, and a Gillian Welch fan to boot!
Unfortunately, we don't have anything with that much personality down on 30th Avenue, though I do walk by a lively Dunkin Donuts twice a day.

I'm also near 30th Avenue.
I wish the NY Times would stop paying attention to Astoria. There are too many people living here already. Everytime they feature us, more people move into our already overcrowded neighborhoods.
Christmas!!! BAH HUMBUG!!!!
