Taped inside the refrigerator door here at work, in boldly Sharpie'd text:
PLEASE STOP STEALING FOOD!
(I spit in mine! Enjoy!)
To which some wag has added:
Mmmm, good spittle.

The problem with labeling ytour food is that the food thiefs know they're stealing -- it's not that they mistakenly think it's their food that they'd forgotten they'd put in the fridge. In fact, labeling it just goads them on, encouraging them to steal just to spite those who are annoyed by it.

Exactly. (We should get Bruce Schneier to analyze it, as he has the papal election.)
I've actually wondered before about the psychology of the employee lunchroom thief; are they hungry? Broke? Doing it to spite people or to get back at a particular person?
'Cause nothing to me seems less appetizing than wanting to take someone else's food. I just don't get it.
